Indian traveller entering UAE immigration counter eligible for visa-on-arrival under expanded rules.

UAE Now Offers Visa-On-Arrival to More Indian Citizens, Here’s Who Qualifies?

From February 2025, Indian citizens with approved visas or residence permits from selected countries can get a 14-day visa on arrival in the UAE.

Good news for Indian travelers: the United Arab Emirates has expanded its visa-on-arrival facility for Indian citizens, making short stays easier for many.

Here’s what’s new: from 13 February 2025, Indian passport holders who carry a valid visa, residence permit or Green Card from Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand or Canada are eligible for this facility. Previously, only those holding such documents from the United States, United Kingdom or an EU nation could apply.

What you need to know?

  1. Your Indian passport must be valid for at least six months.
  2. If eligible, you can receive a 14-day visa on arrival, and you may extend it once for another 14 days (fees apply).
  3. The scheme is available at all UAE entry points: airports, land borders or seaports.

If you don’t hold the required visa or residence permit from those countries, you still need to apply for a regular tourist visa before traveling.

In short, this update makes travel to the UAE simpler for many Indians — especially for those living abroad or holding valid long-term visas in other countries. It’s a welcome step for tourism, family visits and short business trips.
